Media Monday – The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

The annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, that aired last Tuesday night, started off with an all-star performance by Fall Out Boy accompanied by Taylor Swift, who was decked out in a Union Jack ensemble, singing “My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark.”  Swift walked the Runway and danced around with the other models. This was such a fun way to start off the show!   This year, Candace Swanepoel rocked the glamorous 2013 Fantasy Bra. It was encrusted with diamonds, rubies, and sapphires and will retail for $10 million!!  The Fantasy Bra is always the best piece in the show. If you haven’t seen the show yet, watch it here:

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show has been a highly anticipated event in recent years. Everyone wants to see what will happen at the next VS Fashion Show because each year there is always crazy new designs  This year there were six segments that divided the show: British Invasion, Shipwrecked, Birds of Paradise, Parisian Nights, PINK Nation, and Snow Angels.  Each segment brought new and imaginative designs to the VS Runway, but our favorite was the Birds of Paradise section. We loved all the feathered pieces, especially this one!

These are a few more of our favorite looks!

Media Monday – Sandra Bullock’s New Film Gravity

If you had ever made a trip to the theater in the past few weeks you’d notice Gravity at the box office. With $31 million in ticket sales at North American theaters, Gravity had held the top spot for the third consecutive weekend as of Oct 21.

Audiences will be captivated by the fascinating recreation of outer-space environment as they get drawn into the theater for the reveal in the trailer. Yet the film doubles as a mediation on loss and is in fact so deeply emotional as indicated by the director Alfonso Cuarón, who succinctly describes Gravity as a film about “rebirth.”

The starring actress – Sandra Bullock – is again riding high with Oscar Buzz for her performance. But her powerful appeal resides in that quality so rare in Hollywood: ‘relatability’ – you see her like one of your old friends from school, or a cool girl you would meet in the café.

We appreciate her styles for the person she is. Nevertheless, once she steps in the gown, she turns up the heat on the red carpet with distinctive glamour. Take a look at our periodical of Sandra Bullock’s best red carpet looks below and inspirational Le Chic accessories by her characteristic.

Media Monday: 5 of the Hottest Summer Films & Inspired Accessories

Hey there Le Chic Fans!

Here at  Le Chic, we are always fashionably focused on the hottest trends and accessories. Aside from that, we also love movies – especially summer movies. In addition to the holidays, the summertime is the best time to see some of the biggest blockbusters of the year. If you’ve checked out the up and coming movie listings, then you know some great films are coming out out soon. No clue what to go see? Never fear, we’ve done some sifting through the hottest summer flicks and came up with the 5 that we think everyone should see. We’ve also added some of our accessories inspired by these movies, check them out below…. enjoy!

“The Lone Ranger” (July 3)

Some of us may be a little too young to remember when the Lone Ranger was on t.v., but everyone should have an idea that it’s mostly about cowboys and Native Americans. Most importantly, we get to have our Johnny Depp fix, who plays Tonto, the Lone Ranger’s notorious sidekick.

Our Free Spirit Necklace reminds us of Tonto’s rebel spirit

“Girl Most Likely” (July 19)

To our SNL Fans, watch Kristen Wiig play a playwright who’s having a mid-life crisis

This Blue Fleur ring is quirky and cute like Kristen’s character

“The Conjuring” (July 19)

Love scary movies? So do we. The Conjuring, a true story about a married couple that can communicate with the dead, is a perfect pick to scare your heels right off!

We think the Dark Stone Age Necklace helps capture the dark mood of the movie

“Kick-Ass 2” (Aug. 16)

This is the follow up to the first self-made super hero blockbuster Kick-Ass! Can’t wait to see Chloe Moretz aka Hit Girl kick some ace!

Purple Girlhood Ring is inspired by Hit Girl’s all purple look

“Man of Steel” (June 14)

Everyone has been waiting on this movie to come out and in a week and a half it will finally arrive. This is a new adaptation of the on going story of D.C. Comic’s most famous (and good-looking) superhero, Superman; played by the beautiful Henry Cavill.

Our Stella – Silver Clutch is as solid as the man of steel

Which blockbuster are you looking forward to seeing this summer?

Media Monday: The Met Ball

Around 7pm tonight, to help get us all in an elegant springy mood, the world of fashion is having  one of its biggest nights of the year, the Met Ball. The extravagant ball, that some say is as big as the Oscars, has Vogue as its hostess and is held every year to introduce celebrities and the fashion elite to the opening of the Metropolitan Museum of Art‘s ( or The Met) fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. One of the most anticipated time of the night is the red carpet event where celebrities and fashion icons are dressed to the nines and show off plenty of glitz and glamor.

Each year the Met Ball has a theme for the fashion exhibit and this years theme, is PUNK: Chaos to Couture. There will be seven galleries dedicated to the innovative fashion era, including garments worn by punk pioneers like The Sex Pistols, designer inspired collections and a punk D.I.Y on how to ‘punk’ your garments up!

So, if you’re on Anna Wintour’s guest list for the night or able to splurge around $5,000-$15,000 for a ticket, great…. and Le Chic is very envious of you. But if you’re more like the rest of us and need to save a few bucks, then you can watch the live stream of the event here.

Now for some of the best looks from last years Met Ball and some Met Ball inspired accessories from our collection, enjoy!

Media Monday: Nail Art Craze

Painting your nails when you were younger was always a creative process. You could get away with bright colors, adhesive jewels, and painting every nail a different color. Over the past year, nail art has reemerged in a whole new light.

For award shows and the catwalk, nails had more of an important role in the styling of the outfit versus a plain shade to blend with the garment. E! News even had their own “Mani Cam” during each of the award shows so viewers could get a close up view of the celebrity’s nails.

Picture 1

Oscars: Quvenzhane’ Wallis added some sparkle with Chanel. This is a great example of having a simple nail with a little extra glam added.

Picture 2

Grammy’s: Jennifer Lopez chose a neutral color with gold studs.

Picture 3

Golden Globes: One of the most creative designs had to be on Zooey Deschanel’s fingers. The mini cameras and film rolls were fitting for the evening.

Fashionista compiled their top nail art picks in a slideshow from the Spring 2013 runways. We’ve chosen a couple of the most interesting ones to feature.

Blood drop nails were at the Prabal Gurung show and done with Sally Hansen. These definitely aren’t a day-to-day look but make a statement.

To still get the same effect, we suggest opting for paint drops! This is a more colorful, fun look to try out.

Rachel Antonoff used CND for her model’s nails and chose to have the overhead view of Versailles painted on each pointed nail. Not only did she use the painting but also the shape of the nail.

Three layers of painted nails were featured at Binetti’s show. He used CND for the oyster shell looking nails, complete with a pearl in each section.

We feel nail art will continue to grow throughout the year with new tricks and creative ideas. What’s the most creative design you’ve done on your nails?

Media Monday: 2013 Grammy Awards

Sunday night’s 55th annual Grammy Awards were nothing short of surprises. The Grammy’s are the biggest night in music where musicians and innovative ensembles come together. Before the big night, CBS sent out a statement to all attendees regarding the dress code. The phrasing CBS used to describe what not to wear was awkward in itself. Part of the statement said: “Be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered…Thong type costumes are problematic…Avoid sheer see-through clothing.” The dress code restrictions were followed for the most part, if not on the edge.

The Grammy’s were full of amazing looks but Le Chic has to name Rihanna as Best Dressed. Yes, her gown may have been a little too sheer, especially for CBS standards, but she looked gorgeous in her red Azzedine Alaia custom designed dress. We noticed many tweets comparing her relaxed hair look to her “Pon de Replay” days. Maybe her rekindled relationship with Chris Brown has slightly tamed RiRi.

Best Dressed: Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia

There were many well dressed men and women in attendance. We, at Le Chic, wanted to acknowledge a few of our other favorite looks from the night. Taylor Swift looked sophisticated, Natasha Bedingfield was vibrant, and Carrie Underwood wowed us by showing off her curves!

Best Dressed

Best Dressed Nominees: Taylor Swift in J Mendel, Natasha Bedingfield in EMERSON by Jackie Fraser-Swan, Carrie Underwood in Roberto Cavalli.

Although everyone was dressed well at the Grammy’s, we have to name Beyonce as worst dressed. Don’t get us wrong, she looked nice, just not for the Grammy’s. As a presenter and nominated artist sitting front row, Beyonce should’ve gone glam in a gown versus a casual pantsuit. Sorry B, but performing for the Super Bowl last week doesn’t give you an excuse to dress down for the Grammy’s!

Worst Dressed: Beyonce in Osman.

With the dress code being enforced, we were on the look out for any artists wanting to push the envelope. Kelly Rowland showed up in an unexpected black sheer dress that didn’t leave much to the imagination. Katy Perry was all covered up except for one particular area. And Pitbull joked that Jennifer Lopez “inspired the memo” when presenting the first award.

Pushing the Dress Code: Kelly Rowland in Georges Chakra Couture, Katy Perry in Gucci, Jennifer Lopez in Anthony Vaccarello.

Usually the Grammy’s brings out funky and creative garments, but last night everyone kept it elegant for the most part. Aside from the gowns, all of the live performances were top notch and made for more of a concert feel. Which artist performance or collaboration did you enjoy the most?
