Wordless Wednesday: 2013 Golden Globe Gowns

With the start of the year also brings the start of award season. To kick off the year, the 70th Annual Golden Globes were held in Los Angels on Sunday, January 13. Actresses don’t just have to worry about their possible acceptance speeches. Their hair, make-up, accessories, and most importantly, their gown can help land them their next role or be pinned as the worst dressed of the evening.

E! Fashion Police focused on the highs and lows during their Golden Globes Award Special. The hosts, Giuliana Rancic, Kelly Osbourne, George Kotsiopoulos, and Joan Rivers didn’t always see eye to eye. Each of the judges chose a different best dressed nominee, but Joan overruled and named Taylor Swift as the winner. Although Taylor didn’t win Best Original Song on The Hunger Games soundtrack for “Safe and Sound,” she looked so sophisticated in her red wine gown by Donna Karan Atelier that we almost forgot she’s a mere 23 years old.

Taylor Swift, Kate Hudson, Jessica Chastain, Lucy Liu

While George and Kelly agreed Halle Berry’s skin-bearing dress was a no, Giuliana felt Lucy Liu’s Carolina Herrera dress overtook her. Once again, Joan overruled the other judges and named Jessica Chastain as the worst dressed. While it’s a beautiful ice blue color, the top of the dress just didn’t fit Jessica properly and resulted in unwanted sagginess.

Jessica Chastain, Halle Berry, Lucy Liu

Le Chic has named Jennifer Lopez as best dressed. Jennifer was glowing from head to toe with her side swept curls to her curve hugging Zuhair Murad gown made her look like a true Hollywood star. Le Chic has named Halle Berry as worst dressed in her asymmetrical Atelier Versace dress. She showed a lot of skin and the top part of her dress was unflattering.

Several actresses wore three main colors to Sunday’s big event: winter white, wine red, and black.

Colors

Heidi Klum, Naomi Watts, Kate Hudson

Le Chic noticed that the married couples were all hitting home-runs when it came to their appearances. The couple that stole the evening would have to be Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner. Who didn’t love when Affleck told the room “you’re my everything” to Garner in his acceptance speech for Best Director for Argo?

Couples

Naomi & Keith, Jennifer & Ben, Emily & John

Last but not least, we also wanted to acknowledge the women who rocked the red carpet with and without their baby bump. Kristin Bell looked like she was floating in her Jenny Packham dress while Claire Danes, who gave birth only one month ago, looks better than ever!

Award season has just begun and we look forward to seeing what these stars will wear to upcoming events! Who would you name best and worst dressed?
